Humanoids - I Hear The Sun album cover

After the coming of Seattle alternative Rock scene on the beginning of the 90s, a great number of musicians became fascinated with the pure essence of Rock'n'Roll, the root of Metal and many styles, so a good number of bands of the purest Rock'n'Roll arose from the underground scene worldwide. But these bands got a very and deep influence coming from the 60s and 70s in their musical works. And even nowadays, after 20 years, that same feeling still lives on bands as the German quartet HUMANOIDS, that comes with the album "I Hear The Sun".

Ok, I must say the truth: it's not a Heavy Metal band at all, but a Rock'n'Roll band with the same feeling you could feel in some bands from late 60s-early 70s, with a good dose of energy and extremely melodic (but this doesn't mean that they can't play nasty sometimes), with some very good work on vocals (reminds something like a melodic Chris Cornell sometimes), good riffs, and a fine rhythmic session. And along with good keyboard's arrangements, their music is catching and pretty good. The sound quality is good, a result between crossing a band with old musical influences with a modern vibe. But the whole atmosphere is clean and good, but really fits in a melodic band with such musical insight. What I mean is simple: the whole recording is according with a band of such style, but with a modern clear quality.

In the middle of these 12 songs, there are some very good moments, as tender energy on the catching "Unloose The Grey" (fine work done on bass and drums), the vicious and addicting "Pure" (very cool refrain here, along with tender and melodic vocals), the abrasive and strong "Death And Taxes" (the guitars and keyboards are doing such fine and accessible musical arrangements), and the Bluesy touch that we can feel on the melodic and excellent "Down Below".

Very good band, indeed.
