He Is Legend - Suck Out The Poison album cover

Hmmm, right on time! A few days ago I came across this band when I was reading about the No Fear Music tour which includes DRAGONFORCE, CHIMAIRA, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and of course HE IS LEGEND. The touring line up seems a bit diverse so I was quite curious to listen to something by HE IS LEGEND. Now I have the chance to do it, by reviewing their new album Suck Out The Poison.

This album has originally been released in the US by Solid State Records and Century Media got the license by them to release the album in Europe. Suck Out The Poison is the band's second full-length album. HE IS LEGEND have managed to tour with acts like ATREYU, EIGHTEEN VISIONS, EVERY TIME I DIE and has also been confirmed as a support act for NORMA JEAN's European tour in early 2007.

HE IS LEGEND is a modern act (no, no modern metal stuff this time) which seems to be influenced from Grunge bands like CREED and NIRVANA as well as from Hardcore and Emo stuff. As mentioned in the bio note, which I read on the promo CD, their first album has sold over 40,000 copies. I think that this is not a small number for a debut album! Even though I am not into this style of music, I admit that the fact that I wasn't aware of the existence of this band sees a bit strange to me. Anyway, HE IS LEGEND is not the band that will amaze you with their incredible technique or their awesome riffs. They just have something that I still haven't understood what it is that makes them very pleasant as a band. I mean, even though I consider their music mediocre, I have listened to their album more than 4-5 time and I still haven't got bored. There are also times when I listen to Suck Out The Poison and I like it. But the strange thing is that I don't know what is it that I like! The production balances between the classic Hardcore sound and the Grunge rawness, something that makes the music much more straight and alive. Hmmm, I just realized one thing that I like in this album, sometimes it really cheers me up. These guys have something from one of my favorite bands, IGNITE. So, both IGNITE and HE IS LEGEND have the talent to produce a positive vibe through angry and aggressive music.

I have to say that the song titles seem a bit funny and strange to me (and I hope to most of you), but I have to admit that I didn't search over the internet to find and read the lyrics (not that I have to, just from curiosity). Anyway, Suck Out The Poison is an album that maybe the only people who will find it interesting are the ones that listen to a bit more modern stuff and the ones who like bands a bit out of the Metal scene (CREED, ALTERBRIDGE, FU MANCHU).
