When I hear about bands that weren't formed during the 80s but play Thrash Metal I tend to be very cautious. As an 80s Thrash lover I listen very carefully to newer bands and I feel happy when I see that classic Thrash has revived. So when I heard about HAVOK I was interested into listening to them to see what's going on.

HAVOK was formed in February of 2004 in Colorado (USA) and Burn is their first full-length album. Previously they have released a demo called Thrash Can in 2005, a single called Murder By Metal in 2006 and an EP called Pwn 'em all in 2007. As I've read HAVOK is a band worth watching live. They have major energy onstage as well as they have the ability to get the crowd involved, which is very important for a band.

Burn is a good album generally... Its style is more into 80s Thrash Metal but it also contains many new elements. There are songs like The Root Of Evil and Morbid Symmetry that remind me of TESTAMENT's stuff, songs like Path To Nowhere and Scabs Of Trust that remind me of MEGADETH's stuff and so on... Generally, the sound of this album reminds me of  bands like TESTAMENT and MEGADETH (as I've already said) as well as METALLICA, ATROPHY and all these Bay Area guys. Heavy guitar riffs, groovy bass lines and the classic thrashy drumming are the main elements of  this CD.

To conclude, I can say that overall Burn is a worth-listening-to album. If you like Thrash Metal give it a chance and  it's possible that you'll like it.
