HARLOTT is a four-piece Thrash Metal band based out of Australia. The band has previously released two EPs and one full-length album on Metal Blade Records. This is the band's second full-length album, and contains twelve tracks. The title track, "Proliferation", sets the stage for a gritty and hard opening to the album. The Thrash elements you would come to expect are present, including riff and meter changes and shouted, edgy vocals. The changes are done very nimbly and with expert craft, and this is definitely reminiscent of old school 80's Thrash. "Systematic Reduction" churns quickly with some opening blast beat drumming and a hastened pace with a focus on crushing riffs and searing vocal. This shorter track does not let up for a second. "The Fading Light" has a nice suspenseful type of opening which gives way to the energy that follows from the galloping main riff. The lyrical content deals with nuclear war and the fallout that ensues. "Lord of War" has a similar pace with a chorus that is more discernable and meaty. The drumming in this track is particularly strong and the blast beat bass parts are done with impeccable timing.

"Civil Unrest" has some dissonance among the various riffs that change direction often in the song. The prevailing sound is still focused on the bottom end bombast that is indicative of the style overall. "Hellbent" has an ominous opening and the promise of something wicked coming soon. Quickly enough, the fast pacing is back and there are scorch marks left behind from the fury of the instrumentation. "Cross Contamination" is an angry sounding song complete with glittering guitar solos and some harmonic shouting in the chorus. The breakdown sections that lead to the chorus are the perfect opportunity to head-bang. "Legion" is a full on assault that opens with a long, blood-curdling scream at a very high pitch. From there the instrumentations just attack your senses and relentlessly pound at you from every angle. This is probably the song that I would choose to showcase the album. The closing number is "Means to an End". Once again it's a straightforward Thrash sound that does not vary from the historical aspects of the genre. Overall, this is a true-to-style Thrash Metal album. Though the musicianship is strong and the band does a nice job of melding an overflow of riffs and angry vocals into a very traditional Thrash metal sound; the pacing of many of the tracks was just too uniform, resulting in it being difficult to tell some of them apart. The raw, dominant energy however does make up for some of this.<
