HARDCORE SUPERSTAR: what can I say about these guys??? I just love them!! They're dirty, heavy and definitely one of the best Glam/Sleaze (if you can call them like that) bands. You know, sometimes we need labels just to put some characteristics in the same category...but everyone has his own style. So I don't know where to put them exactly.
Since 1998 they have released six full-length albums and Beg For It is their seventh one. Their first album, It's only Rock n' Roll, was released only in Sweden, so their 2000 album Bad Sneakers And A Pina Colada is considered to be their debut. Next year Thank You (For Letting Us Be Ourselves) came out and after that followed the 2003 album No Regrets. These two albums made the band more popular and recognizable, but after this they decided to take a break. Their come-back in 2005 was absolutely a dynamic one...Hardcore Superstar and then Dreaming In A Casket (2007) are definitely two great CDs with excellent compositions, an extremely good production and a kick ass attitude. And now Beg For It is released under a new label, Nuclear Blast (maybe the biggest Metal label worldwide); the Beg For It single has already sold gold in Sweden.
Now, let's see... some days ago I received the album and started listening to it. What I realized is that this quartet is able to do incredibly good things. The album starts with the great melodic This Worm's For Ennio intro and then the storm begins....heavy as hell riffs....unbelievably good melodies that stick to your mind...spectacular solos...and this voice... Needless to say that the production is incredible... Songs like Beg For It, Don't Care 'Bout Your Bad Behaviour and Spit It Out, for example, show that this band can be aggressive enough as well as melodic. A highlight of this album is Hope For A Normal Life, which is some kind of ballad that comes just in the middle of the album to let you relax a bit before the storm continues. From the beginning to the end Beg For It is an album that a fan of this music will definitely enjoy listening to.
If I had to choose my favorite HARDCORE SUPERSTAR album, I would have to think very carefully and pick one out of their last 3. I mean, year after year they become better and better. I hope that they'll go on like this, cause they have much to offer to our music!
