Hailing from Buenos Ares, Argentina, comes the Melodic Metal band HADALUNNA. "Rising with Dying Wings" is the band's debut EP, and contains five tracks. The five tracks have a total running time of just under 20 minutes. "Moon's Awakening" opens with piano and some Symphonic elements that lead to a mysterious and dark sound, that soon leads to a jovial and spirited "Rising with Dying Winds," with the charging vocals of singer Rose Heiderscheid. The chorus is a full on sound with many competing elements. It ends with many of these elements coming together nicely in a blend. "Spiders over Me" opens with an ominous sound, leading to a slower pace with keyboard melodies that ring out like delicate bells in the background. The vocals reach some lower ranges here and there but are a bit pitchy.

"Hidden Worlds" has a great opening...charging guitars and bass notes as the drums come in with a flurry of fills. The guitars occupy much of the sound here, stamping things with a bit of IRON MAIDEN. The bridge is nicely done, sprouting in some extras into the dark formula. "The Flight of the Crow" opens with a calamity of various instruments and a gruff sounding guitar riff. The chorus is full on here as vocalist Rose stretches out here a bit. A dark and ominous keyboard solo leads to a lead guitar solo that follows the melody line right on par. The solo continues in as it fades out, ending with a calm melody of gentle keyboards.

Overall, I think this is a good debut for the band. There is a lot to like here, if the band figures out how to best use their vocalist. At times, Rose really shines, and her commanding roar can fill the void with class and with style. At other times, her vocals get a bit lost in the mix, and can get drowned out by the instrumentation. Two years after releasing this debut, I have no doubt that the band have figured out a way to best use her, and look forward to hearing what the band can do next.
