Twisted Prayers
Gruesome
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: GRUESOME; signed via the mighty Relapse Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Death Metal, on their 2nd album entitled: "Twisted Prayers" (released June 1st, 2018).
Since formation in 2014; the quintet in question have 1 album in their discography so far, I am introduced to their 2nd record entitled: "Twisted Prayers". 9 tracks ranging at around 42:35; the quartet arrange an intricately designed formula of hard-hitting Death Metal developments. Starting off with "Inhumane"; I immediately notice the DEATH influence, without a doubt. From Chuck Schuldiner's guttural pipes to the deadly distinction of the band's melodious rhythms amalgamated with that aesthetic of horrific hostility; GRUESOME deliver savagely sinister relentlessness, battering rampages fuelled with blisteringly bouncy concrete slabs of solidity – it is safe to say that the group are admirably in conjunction with the aforementioned, executed with progressively technical twists.
Consisting of guitar duo Daniel Gonzalez & Matt Harvey; the complex, dextrous pair generate a profusely robust system of catchy riffs and solos in songs like "A Waste of Life" & "Fate". Converging excelling composing adroitness; assaulting with constructive yet hammering barrages of chugging gallops and crunchy hymns, accelerating with harmonic diversity. Robin Mazen on vocals/bass culminates a grandiose manifestation of hard-hitting bass audibility, as well as a raw infestation of borderline punchline growls of gutteral maliciousness. "Lethal Legacy" demonstrates the band's grit, flourishing with distinguished yet primitive skill - proficiently performed with persistent speed and strength. "Crusade of Brutality" distributes more flavours of intensifying stability, enlightened with hardened hymns of flamboyant finesse.
Not forgetting powerhouse pulverizer Gus Rios; who pummels his steel with unique ramifications, the drummer embellishes on vigourous violence with vehement velocity and creatively compelling craftsmanship. "At Death's Door" establishes organic songwriting substances, as well as a considering amount of memorable originality that is all round enlightening and fulfillingly entertaining. The titular track conveys more symbolic inventiveness, portraying onslaughts of thumpy characteristics that efficiently provide rapidly nimble swiftness and salubriousness. Overall concluding the record with the infamous cover track from the film "The Exorcist" which was captivating and a brilliant rendition; I discovered another band who certainly outdone themselves.
Bottom line; if you are a fanatic of the band DEATH and miss their contributions to the Metal scene, you are in luck - GRUESOME may possibly well take over the preceeding Death Metal godfather's place as this is the closest you will get to them.
