Grimlord - Blood Runneth Over album cover

A Polish band, GRIMLORD sent us their latest work Blood Runneth Over for review, and I really wished they had some Press Info to accompany their package, since their official website has limited (if any) English info regarding their career/releases. In any way, even through a 'photocopied' cover artwork and some CD-R disc, things did go better than what I expected.
This trio hails from Breslau and has been active for 8-9 years now. Previously operating as a Black Metal band - under the VALLAHIA moniker - they decided to turn to more 'heavy' and melodic fields. Through furious lineup changes, the only remaining member now is guitarist/vocalist Barth La Picard: a rather talented musician (if he's also responsible for the band's songwriting). And this, due to GRIMLORD's tendency in performing some multi-Metal stuff. There's 'ancient' Euro Metal in here, there are extreme parts (mostly Thrash-related), there's lots of 'new' Metal sharp/groovy attitude at times, there's enough of 'underground' German Metal atmosphere (this can also be evident due to the 100% 80s German Metal vocals, a la TALON, STORMWITCH, SINNER and GRAVESTONE).
There's complexity but also straightforwardness in the band's music, plus the guitar leads are rather impressive and smart. The drum parts are also notable, being between classic Heavy Metal and mid-tempo Thrash. Fans of early RUNNING WILD, (music-only) MERCYFUL FATE and non-speed Thrash/Death Metal bands will find enough of interest in this album. OK, the production is less than average but the music is noteworthy...
