Gravity Rain - The Shining Silence album cover

GRAVITY RAIN - I've never heard of this name before. It's my first play of the EP, "The Shining Silence", from this band. And to be honest, it was pretty cool. It is a combination between Heavy metal and Folk music.  Hailing all the way from the cold and freezing Russia, these guys bring you something different to listen to.

"Free Again" is a simple, nice song featuring a clean singer alongside synthesizers and nice guitar lines. Ever heard the band TOOL? It reminds of them, a lot. Some may refer to it as Melodic Metal; some may refer to it as Epic Metal; I refer to it as some kind of a Folk Metal which is heavily modernized to fit today's scene. The lyrics are amazing. The guitars feel exactly in place. This song gives you a dreamy, good feel. Want to take your girlfriend in your truck to the beach at sunset? Play this song. It will fit in good. I had my friend listen to it and she really liked it as well (She is not exactly into Metal music, so you need to consider to buy this CD because it fits all kind of crowds). Great song, great feel; let's move on.

The next on the list is "Imagism". This is an even more melodic song to listen to, with an amazing feel of AVENGED SEVENFOLD, clashed all together with JOY DIVISION, alongside any Folk Metal band you could think of. The lyrics are beautiful, dreamy, and the song itself is light and nice. It won't fall from the quality of "Free Again", and stands in my standard, as well. I think that you need to hear about this band more and more in the near future, because they are very promising.

"Riddled" is probably the heaviest song on the EP, from my point of view, but it sounds great and fun. It reminds me a lot of the band ALTER BRIDGE. I don't have anything else to add about this anymore, but I can say - this EP is wonderful.

Summing up everything, I can say I enjoyed listening to this EP, and experiencing something new. Those Russian guys know exactly what they do, and they do it good. I think there is a lot for them in the future and they hold a big potential.<
