I remember coming across the band's previous full-length effort Leading Vision back in 2006 and I have to admit that I kind of liked these guys. I was impatient to listen to more stuff and this moment came after three years with the band's brand new offering entitled Process Of A New Decline through the French label Listenable Records. Let's see if they can still kick some ass.

The French metallers began their career in 1997 under the name GORGASM. They managed to release a couple of demos, a split and a full-length album before they changed their name to GOROD (due to the more known US Death Metal band GORGASM). The band's new album also introduces new drummer Sam Santiago.

France has offered quite some talented bands and quality releases the last years and I believe GOROD can compete in both categories. Their technical and - at times - melodic Death Metal filled with tons of brutality has helped the band to rise up from the underground and claim a place in the Death Metal scene. With a technical, yet groovy drumming (courtesy of the band's new drummer), insane guitars and bestial vocals, GOROD craft a heavy as fuck album that may remind you of bands like AUGURY, ANATA, SPAWN OF POSSESSION. As you can easily understand, the French metallers do not appeal to the not well trained ears or the easy listeners. I would suggest this album mostly to fans of technical Death Metal, since the rest will probably find more interesting stuff anywhere else but here.

Process Of A New Decline is by no means one of the best releases I have ever laid my hands on, but it is surely an album that takes GOROD even further and makes them proudly stand next to most of the bands in the technical Death Metal scene.
