Metalcore is not exactly my action zone. Not that I don't like it at all, but I'm not a fan. And, sometimes, in my humble opinion, I think this is better in order to write a review for a new release, since you are an outside and you are not being blind from the fan point of view.

Five albums in ten years is not a bad number for a band. GOD FORBID are active from 1998 without a single lineup change, and this is something good for them, but bad for me since I don't have many things to write down. The only interesting thing I can mention is that Doc Coyle came up with the title of the album Earthsblood, after seeing the movie There Will Be Blood. The lyrics are dealing with the economical and energy crisis we are facing, but without being a concept album in the traditional way.

As I mentioned before, I'm not a fan of this scene, but I want to believe that I'll write down an un-coloured description of the album. Many people say that GOD FORBID is one of the bands that is in the frond row of the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal. Well, excuse me, but this core thing is not Heavy Metal. It may have Metal as an influence but it's not Heavy as we were used to tell for bands back in the 80s. The album has some interesting compositions, like The Rain, Walk Alone and War Of Attrition but some others are not that strong. The production is above average, and the sound has the appropriate volume. Byron's voice is, I believe, really good for this style and the clean vocals are quite good too. But that doesn't mean that the album doesn't have some not that good moments, like Bat the Angels and Shallow, moving in the stereotypes of metalcore.

As a conclusion, the album was better than I expected. Some nice riffs and melodies combined nicely make Earthsblood a quite good CD. But I can't close my eyes to it's average moments. A good release from GOD FORBID but not something that will hunt my CD player.
