Helsinki, Finland's Gothic/Doom/Death Metal band GOD DISEASE was formed in 2010. This is their sophomore full-length release, and has six songs. "Ashes" is the first. It's a slow, depressive, and hopeless sound. The harsh vocals are equally as depressive, and are low gutturals. A steady groove follows. The sound picks up towards the end, as the vocals and guitar are more animated. "Bulit by Dead Hands" is another hopeless affair. As the riffs ring out, your sense of loss is amplified. The riffs aren't overly inventive but they do their job of carrying pestilence throughout the lands. Again, the sound picks up towards the end once more.

"Remembrance" is a lengthy and gritty song, with dissonant rhythms and a slow grind that will eventually crush you to death. The vocals are filthy and vile. In a way, the song serves a reminder about all of the bad things in your life. Do you have the courage to face them? "Leper by the Grace of God" has a bit more sonority, as the main riff is fast-picked, and the drums have some fuel to the as well. As it begins to slow down, a solo breaks into the swampy sound. "Futile Effort to Breathe" is all about giving up. The tones are very dissonant and the interplay between various leads really doesn't connect, furthering your feeling of confusion and frustration.

"Serenity Abandoned" closes the album. It's another dissonant and slow-moving song, drawing out like a blade. Think about the title and visualize it. Someone is choosing, or its chosen for them, to not pursue the good things in life. Overall, this was just an average take on Doom Metal for me, and nothing special. The song titles matched the mood on the album quite well, but that's about where the compliments end. Even considering the style, much of the album failed to really get off the ground and was mired in mediocrity.
