The Lair Of The White Worm
God Dethroned

Holland is the mother country of Heineken and Vincent Van Gongh so it is no great surprise than it can produce equivalent high-quality evil spiritual creations - i.e. mega Death Metals such as God Dethroned! Not to mention the magnificent tulips, the juicy Dutch girls and golden earrings of course!
From the first track Nihilism hell is fucking breaking loose man! They have decided not to take any prisoners found in their way! The production is very clean and crispy, so you can hear all the instruments very clearly and distinctively. Exceptional artistic touch has been done with the guitar work - explosive Metal riffs and finger breaking lead parts appear very often in this album. All these combined with lyrical and emotional - God Dethroned of course - guitar leads. High supersonic speeds govern this unholy CD, blast beats, rough double bass drums, Cannibal Corpse-type drumming and other interesting stuff are found here in large quantities. There are several - not done on purpose, or are they - Carcassian passages regarding the voice and the song structure at certain times in the album.
Classic Death Metal scenery enriched with Black Metal touches here and there define the sonic excursion the listener has to follow in this album. There are many changes in the supersonic speeds of the drums too which give a feeling of intensity and awareness to the listener! I also particularly enjoy the voice of Henri Sattler because it has its own character; it's tough and strong without having to be heard like cesspool! It is quite hard for a classical Metaller to listen to God Dethroned but if you are open minded enough you will definitely find many interesting things in their music! The majority of the songs have very cool choruses which are easy to remember (for Death Metal of course) and more eager to be sung live!
This is muscular Death Metal, my friend! No choirs or fucking keys are found here! Just blood, sweat, leather Heineken, blast beats, more Heineken, razor sharp guitar riffs, even more Heineken, rough vocal lines and finally much much more Heineken! Exceptional tracks are the following (even though the whole record can flow very easily and may be considered as a solid highlight): Nihilism, Sigma Enigma , Loyal To The Crown Of God Dethroned, Salt In Your Wounds and Last Zip Of Spit.
Let's hope that God Dethroned will find their way for their coronation as one of the most influential and interesting European Death Metal acts! I must also add the exceptional - in white background - cover which could have also been the cover (for the imaginary never-released) Coronation Of The Serpent of the Greek Black Metal angels Rotting Christ, due to the artistic similarity of the main ideas!
I firmly grasp my Heineken and pour it down my thirsty throat, then stare at the poor imitation of Sunflowers on my wall. Afterwards I turn the pages to meet some Dutch boobs in my Playboy exclusive edition (because my radar love is on baby!) and I buy a pair of golden earrings for my girlfriend! What music would I choose to accompany this scenery?
