Warwolf
Goat War

Out of Michigan, GOAT WAR just released their debut Warwolf out for Heathen Tribes Records. This is four track EP where this young band tried to condense their idea of trash - black metal in a 9 mins release: this isn't some underground raw gem though, it appears more as a black sonic mess with some kind of fantasy background, that even the more adapted metalhead ear can find hurting and annoying.
This appear more as a delusional showoff than a thoughtful release: starting with Goathammer's inhuman guitar solo these four tracks might give you a headache if you're trying to find a reason behind it, something more than to check all the clichés in this niche, from members' nicknames to lo-fi attitude in the production and in the artwork. This might be the only reason to listen to it, other than some masochistic-driven need for a rush of unwanted black energy. Vocal attitude in Warwolf might even take away from you that, leaving just a tragicomically and bitter smile on your face.
As a demo debut our only hope is to find these US guys thinking about what they really want to do in the music scene: releasing tracks just for fun, with no care to what makes an album great, even in this lo-fi scene, or leaving some kind of sign?
