GLORYFUL is a band from Gelsenkirchen in Germany playing Heavy Metal, formed in the summer of 2010. Their 3-track demo "Sedna's Revenge" gained them a high reputation among the classic Heavy Metal underground. Just last year the band released their debut album "The Warrior's Code", which critically acclaimed, GLORYFUL released their second opus, "Ocean Blade" recently.
"The Master's Hands" caught my attention right from the start, with a dangerous meeting of powerful riffs and melodic perception, a highly catchy track with fantastic memorable choir in the chorus, somewhat similar to the booming SABATON along with reminders off MANOWAR mix DRAGONFORCE. The opener "Hiring the Dead" has a very energetic classic Metal guitaring, strong vocals of Johnny La Bomba, clear melodic backing vocals, along with fine lead work and solo feature. "Ocean Blade" is a memorable tune with a perfect working rhythmic section & galloping riffs a'la IRON MAIDEN. The guys show true Heavy Metal with similarity to the Australian PEGASUS too, vocalist La Bomba singing in strong melodic voice in the spirit of JUDAS PRIEST, SABATON & IRON MAIDEN. "All Men To The Arms" is a flawless show of Speed Metal climate, nice lyrical lines going together with instruments. This sounds like a true battle hymn with nice melody. The excellent "Cradle of Heroes" is an impressive tribute to Heavy Metal scene with diverse pace, massive riffs, decisive drumming and excellent vocals. The power of Metal continues with the melodic "Mcguerkin On The Bridge", where the band exploit their JUDAS PRIEST influences. I also enjoyed "El Mare, E Libertad" cradling impressive riffery with the pounding similarity to PRIMAL FEAR, and of course the ballad "Black Legacy" with hoarse singing, fine choir and charming violins. The inspirational "Siren Song" shares fields with RUNNING WILD with its epic proportions.
GLORYFUL has everything in their power to become the ultimate choice in Heavy Metal nowadays, taking leads from the gods and respecting their legacies. In my opinion second album of GLORYFUL was issued with more modern sounds, therefore elevated the band's efforts for band a step forward to a brilliant future for their becoming the next stars.
