The American GLITCH from Nebraska is probably one of the most actual faces of the modern US Metal scene. In the 80's when the US scene reigned with their own definition of Metal called US Metal, it was the suitable time to start a Metal band. However, everything went down after the rising of Grunge in the early 90's. Since then, and after the resurrection of Metal near 2000, I always thought, and still think, that the US scene never really went back to its old 80's roots and turned to a raw hybrid. The local GLITCH, a decent Metal band of veteran musicians, used their old Rock / Metal influences to create their debut conception, "Bringing Metal 2 The Masses".

Let's say that for a first official effort, this band did rather nicely with "Bringing Metal 2 The Masses". Their material is rather simple with the shaping of various influences taken from several decades of Rock & Metal. On the way I got some weird encounters with BLACK SABBATH, PANTERA, HENDRIX, AC/DC, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, KISS, MOTORHEAD and a variety of other bands. I have to say that I liked the diversity between the genres. The jumping from Rock & Metal, back and forth, made this underground feature as suitable for many fans. Even if GLITCH's intention was to target their local scene, their efforts should take the notice of worldwide Metal & Rock fans alike.

Although I think that the mixing of genres and band's performance on "Bringing Metal 2 The Masses" was more than solid, I can't say I really enjoyed every song. Some of the better stuff like the anthem "Metal 2 The Masses", new age Metal as "Ultimate Sacrifice", great ballad of "Mindshank", emotive "Chris" and uncontrolled screwing machine of "The Grind" gave a positive impression. However, the other tracks were just catchy and didn't amaze me in the same vein as the others I mentioned.

For a band that didn't try to break their local zone and step out of the US cube, this release is good. While sending the message regarding social issues that bother almost everybody, GLITCH brought the word of Metal to their local flock. Even if it's simple, and sometimes banal, their word is still for a Heavy Metal rule.
