Today, the concept of 'supergroups' is being widely used, because some guys want to make things in a different way from their main bands. In the past, these works are not as common as today (maybe the evolution of modern recording technologies and the past two year hiatus of shows due the pandemic caused this), but even with such use, things can be interesting when the concepts and ideas are worthy, as in the case of GENERATION RADIO with their first album, "Generation Radio", the main matter of this review.

In the band's ranks, musicians with long experiences with famous names as JOURNEY, CHICAGO, RASCAL FLATTS, REVOLUTION SAINTS, BAD ENGLISH, HARDLINE, and many others. The main musical work of the quintet is based in a form of Melodic Hard Rock/AOR, tender and with an accessible appeal that would make the band a success in the radio stations of the 80's. One can compare the band's music to AOR giants as JOURNEY, REO SPEEDWAGON, BOSTON and many others, but with a clear Pop Rock tendency in many moments. Of course the formula isn't new at all, but's works wonderfully in the hands of these guys...As expected after the words above, one can expect a clean and defined sound quality for "Generation Radio". It's truly clean and in a way that the songs gain life, a musical expression that they deserve.

Musically, the feeling that belongs to the golden years of the late 70's and all the 80's is presented in each song, without being something moldy or without energy and life. And for a first time on the album, the more indicated ones are "Why Are You Calling Me Now" (a tender song with a commercial appeal and with excellent vocals and chorus), "Angels" (another silk song with the right accessible energy, with charming arrangements on the guitars), "All Night to Get There" (this one has a set of hooks that are hard to resist, with expressive keyboards and a solid presence of bass guitar and drums), "Time to Let It Go" (a heavier and aggressive song, with a massive energetic impact, and another good work on bass guitar and drums, and what lovely backing vocals), "Don't Go" (a lovely Pop Rock ballad-like song, elegant and deeper, with very good vocals once more shaped by charming arrangements on keyboards), "Smoking" (an abrasive feeling comes from its melodies, nearer of some Hard Rock features, with impressive guitars), and "Waiting on Your Sunshine". But with the talent these guys have, all the songs are really impressive.

As a first release, "Generation Radio" is really excellent. But anyone can expect even more of GENERATION RADIO in the future for sure.
