There are deep links between Death Metal subgenres with horror films and books, and names as John Carpenter, H. P. Lovecraft, Clive Barker, Stephen King, and others can be found spread in the lyrics of the genre. One example: if one reads about some songs and lyrics of DEATH's "Scream Bloody Gore" (the first Death Metal album according with many fans and writers), references to horror films of Lucio Fulci, an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor (songs as "Regurgitated Guts", "Beyond the Unholy Grave" and "Zombie Ritual"). And these references are clear on "Exhumed Information", the new album of the Italian Brutal Death Metal squad FULCI (the name is a reference for Lucio Fulci, of course).

Their work is a wise midterm between Brutal Death Metal and classic Death Metal, with contrasts between the traditional speed tempos (not as fast as some modern bands) and slow parts, with low tuned instruments and grunts. The formula isn't new as anyone can think, but the trio works on a personal way and with unusual features in many moments. And the energy and aggressiveness of this album will cause wounds on the eardrums of those who aren't used to such musical form, but for the fans, will be love at the first hearing (or bleeding). "Exhumed Information" was recorded at Till Deaf Recording Studios, under the supervision of Ando Ferraiuolo, and mastered by the hands of Arthur Rizk. All the efforts were done to create a traditional Death Metal sonority for the trio's music, and all works in a very good way, being understandable to everyone, but with the distortion and aggressiveness that the genre must bear.

"Autopsy" is just a horror intro that precedes "Voices", a brutal song with good rhythmic contrasts and very good grunts. On "Nightmare", the main focus lays on slow parts and harsh ambiences (and very good guitar riffs), and "Evil" follows the same features and tendency. On "Funeral", the Hardcore influence kept by Death Metal is clear, but some modern influences appears on some points (as in some guitar arrangements), and what oppressive rhythm created by bass guitar and drums, with "Tomb" presenting the same elements as well (but with a more dynamic set of tempos). On the other hand, "Glass", "Child", "Fantasma" and "Cemetery" are instrumental songs with an experimental approach, using clean chords and even keyboards.

As last words, it must be said that FULCI found a space for their music in such a form, and "Exhumed Information" is that kind of album that every Death Metal maniac must hear.
