The Unquiet Dead
Foul Body Autopsy

Live from the frontlines of the apocalypse is the latest, ground-rattling EP, The Unquiet Dead from one-man band FOUL BODY AUTOPSY. Tom Reynolds, the mastermind behind all the vocals and instruments for each album and EP, named the band after his favorite NECROPHAGIST song. While heavily influenced by NECROPHAGIST's complex playing style, FOUL BODY AUTOPSY is very much all their own. Reynolds successfully splits his rage into equal parts, saturating each note played by each instrument. The Unquiet Dead is just under ten minutes long, but there's a chance your hearing or your sanity isn't going to last that long, probably.
Listening to The Unquiet Dead, you understand that Tom Reynolds runs a tight ship, even if he is the sole crew member as well as the captain. The songs are well rehearsed and cleaner than their predecessors. Taking a slight sojourn from the brutal complexity that Reynolds so frequently flexes on past albums, The Unquiet Dead is turned down just a tad. The drums don't patter as quickly, cymbals don't clang as loud, guitar chords don't try to tie themselves in knots to form beautiful chaos. By no means am I trying to imply that The Unquiet Dead is soft in a bad way! It's... just a hair subdued, I guess? It sounds more controlled in its anger; less consumed by its own decay. Reynolds voice comes through just a little louder. A little clearer. He no longer sounds like he's trying to bury his voice alongside the razor wire mess of the frets. In other words, he isn't trying so hard to intimidate anyone with this album.
The Unquiet Dead shows signs of a musician hell bent on creating an ever-evolving sound. FOUL BODY AUTOPSY is one of the few Death Metal bands that isn't afraid to tweak something different about them, and that's always great to see!
