The days we are living in now show an interesting feature: the musical ways from the past and from the present coexist at the same time, and it seems to be in a harmonic way (expect for those foolish radicals). We have modern tendencies and old ones, and it's good, for we have musical diversification that won't let us be bored. So, what can a veteran band as FM, from UK, can give us today? Well, this question can be answered by "Atomic Generation."

They are an old band that had some musical success in the 80's, playing that good AOR format that we all know: very good keyboards, a great amount of musical accessibility (take a listen to their choruses that are charming), but pay attention that their musical energy is unique, a feature that was required in the 80's (and that some new bands from Old School Metal never have). Then we must say that "Atomic Generation" is a fine AOR album, and it will keep you hooked on it for days!

Well, for AOR bands, the sound production must be done with the vision that the music must sound clear and melodic. In the case of this album, it is, mixing the musical elements from the past with the modern benefits from computational resources. The songs are pretty clear and loud, with the right dose of what we can call "silk aggressiveness" (that essential touch of dirtiness that a Rock album must bear). But as I wrote above, for AOR, a clear sound quality is the most important feature of the production.

The album has some invited musicians: Scott Ralph playing horns on "Playing Tricks on Me" (a Popish song, with fine vocals, and horns give it a noir touch) and CHRIS CLIFF on the cello on "Follow Your Heart" (a beautiful song, with a great dose of musical accessibility and charming chorus, along with very good keyboards' parts). And along with "Black Magic" (very good backing vocals and good work on bass guitar and drums), "Too Much of a Good Thing" (filled with easy and accessible melodic lines, with good guitars as well), "Golden Days" (the fine and tender atmosphere of this songs is really amazing), and the lovely ballad "Do You Love Me Enough" can be pointed as the album's best moments.

Well, it's good to hear a FM album after all these years, and they are still good. So listen to "Atomic Generation" out loud, and have a great time!
