FLESHWORLD. For those unaware, are a quintet from Poland, moving in Post-Metal pathways in the vein of ISIS and CULT OF LUNA. Truth be told, I'm not a big fan of Post- either Rock or Metal, because I fear it's becoming more of a hype thing than an actual scene (well, almost). It's just that I've heard way too many run-of-the-mill bands trying to play this, with no particular success. But enough with my grumbling, we've got more serious things at hand.

Debut album for FLESHWORLD, and I'm impressed. The eerie title track "Like We're All Equal Again", backed by the morbidly heavy "Hereinafter" set the tone for what's to follow.

FLESHWORLD alternate between ambient/atmospheric post-rock melodies and bone-crushing heavy sludge riffs enhanced by Tytus' vocal angst, toying with our sanity. Their sense of balance between those two extremes is what really makes it shine. "Chant of Many Voices" (my personal favorite), the epic 11 minute long "Dust Eater", "The Collapse", and the closer "The Infinite", all follow in style, and the band never fails to satisfy, both musically and aesthetically. Truth be told, the album could stand as an instrumental album as it is. Having an angry vocalist in the likes of Tytus reaching even to death growls makes it even greater.

ll in all, "Like We're All Equal Again" is a great album you're bound to enjoy, provided you give it the time and space it needs.
