Lightning in a Bottle
Find Me
Since the downfall of Glam Metal and AOR from musical parades in the beginning of the 90's (due to the outbreak of Grunge/Alternative Music in 1991) and its rebirth in the early days of 2000's, the old format found a new energy due the insight of younger generations on the music. It's the main difference between the records of the past and present, but's a healthy thing to be found, especially on "Lightning in a Bottle", the first album of the musical project called FIND ME.
This album is an AOR release, full of the same old and good features that are usual to the genre (melodies that are easy to be assimilated to increase the commercial appeal of the album, remarkable choruses, and the keyboards are used in a way that it becomes the core of the musical work), but with a fresh and young energy (that comes from the excellent guitars). Yes, it's really very good to hear, and it's honest to the bones, something that will catch the fans for sure!
The sonority of "Lightning in a Bottle" shows the usual format of the modern insight into AOR: a combination of the older ways, but with the definition that allows the fans to understand even the little details of the songs. So it enables the energy to flow freely and in a great form. And there's a very special guest on the album: Vince Di Cola on the keyboards on "Far from Over", an 80's hit of the soundtrack of "Staying Alive" (the sequence of 1977's "Saturday Night Fever"), originally performance by Frank Stallone and that was co-written by Vince.
The catching melodies of "Survive" (a song based on strong guitars and with a remarkable chorus), the new dressing of "Far from Over" (the keyboards parts played by Vince and the vocals are amazing), the classic AOR ambience of "Sail Away" and "Back to You", "Diana" with its 80's appeal (and what lovely backing vocals), the contrasts between deeper moments and electric ones heard on "Remember (It's Me)", the modern feeling that fills "Under a Bad Sign", and "On the Run" are the best pieces for a first time on their work.
"Lightning in a Bottle" is really a surprising release, and can make FIND ME a titan in the genre today if they're not by now (it's their fourth album).
