From Washington State, we have the band FIFTEEN STITCHES created by 4 Tacoman (go Google it) Metalheads, and they are releasing their 2nd album Beyond The Wall. Despite being the land of Grunge, the band explores more the Heavy Metal side of things as you can hear in the first track “Revolution” that has a JUDAS PRIEST vibe. Better yet is the second one “Light Psycho” that has a more bluesy Hard Rock output showing that the band has more bullets in their gun. The brain behind the band and lyrics seems to be singer Tim Perdue that has a reasonable range in his voice and takes care of the assignment without compromising.
The band has some different approaches in certain songs like “I.C.G.F.U.E. (I Can't Get)” that has a mean syncopated tempo thanks to the competent drummer James Ortega, and a more somber mood. We reach another interesting rhythmic approach on “Nemo Liber” that adds more crunch in the guitar and has an interesting singing melody not like the usual Metal melodies of epic high notes and histrionics. This track reminded me a little bit of HELMET. We got even darker with “Eventual Horizon, Pt. 2” and I was finally able to find a singer whose voice matches Tim Perdue’s vocals. Is the singer of TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION. The band has also a good bass player in Rob Field that starts “You Know We Know” , which for me is the best of the album so far mixing ruff and melodic vocals. The guitar riffs provided by Chris Pasinetti are solid and sometimes very creative as you can hear in “It Is Destroyer” and also the final track with the best name ever given to a song, “Demon Dick” that is actually another good track highlighted in this album.
Good second release from FIFTEEN STITCHES and I would believe future works will show better their development as still progress can be made.
