As I continue to learn more about Black Metal I only find more beautiful elements about this genre and realise that it's not all aggressive vocals, fast paced guitars and rolling drums, it can often acquire calm elements and dark lyrical themes. This is what I found with Black Metal artist FEGEFEUER ANILMATHIEL and his latest album "The Mourning Woodlands".

This treat for fans of Atmospheric Black Metal depressingly opens with "The World Has Changed" that entices the listener in with great curiosity. In terms of Black Metal, opening an album with great sorrow is a compliment. For me who starting to understand this incredible genre I really love the ambient instrumentals on this record, with the echo reverbation on the tracks, it sounds as if these tunes have recorded in a dark cave.

As much as I love Atmospheric Instrumentals in Metal, I couldn't really take this many all in one go. I was expecting to hear some form of aggression whether that would be in the high shrieking vocals, fast paced guitars and rolling drums.

So overall I thought it was great in terms of how it was put together musically but not my cup of tea.
