In a world filled with Death Metal, what can a band do to make a name for themselves? I think we may be getting to a point where bands actually ask people to consent to being murdered on stage, but until that actually happens here's a newer Death Metal band. FEARED and their sixth independently released album "Synder" follows a trend the other 5 albums had, good Death Metal and cool album covers. Now this is a band that aren't feared (teehee) to stray from traditional Death Metal, incorporating clean vocals into some of their music and doing so without breaking the flow of the song.

The band may not be traditional in every sense, but they are still Death Metal and Death Metal is when I start to get overly picky and critical. FEARED open with a clean guitar intro before breaking into "Your Demise" and "Of Iron And Ashes" the latter of which has a clean guitar break. "Of Iron And Ashes" also has some strong Thrash elements to it that become more apparent in the next song, "Caligula." Let's jump ahead a bit with "Wolf At The End Of The World," this is the first song I jumped into to test the waters, being a song about Fenris (or at least mentioning him) I thought was cool especially the way vocalist Mario Ramos speaks with Fenris as the narrator in the lyrics. The song itself is fast paced, a little repetitive feeling like the chorus comes back too quickly or too often but a good Thrasher nonetheless. Being a 13 song album I expected a bit more than 48 minutes, but it's 48 minutes of unrelenting and unpredictable Death Metal.

Although being a band who independently releases all of their own albums, FEARED know how to get albums done. I can only guess that being independent allows them to decide for themselves how things are done and make metal THEY want to make, not some suit wants them to make. This is a band who knows what they want, knows how to get it and won't let anyone get in their way and "Synder" proves that they are a force to be feared.. Okay, I'm don't with that. Killer release, heavy, slightly untraditional Death Metal with some awesome Thrash elements to blow you away.
