FEANOR is an Argentinian band that sticks to pretty traditional metal. Boundless I Am Free is a four song EP that has both an acoustic and electric version of the title track. The EP was released on September 30, 2021, via Massacre Records.

"Boundless I am Free" is an epic song that sounds good both electric and acoustic. Having Ross The Boss of MANOWAR fame on the electric version is a cool choice of musician for a guest appearance. Both versions start with a nice, gentle piano intro, but the electric version then kicks in with a nice, heavy riff. The vocals are more intense, using a little more grit and distortion. The layered vocals in various parts of the song add a bit of dimension to the track. That guitar solo towards the end is amazing.

The acoustic version of "Boundless I Am Free" uses more piano and strings with cleaner, more melancholy vocals. As heavy as the guitar riff is in the electric version, the violin is equally as haunted. Both versions are quite good, and I cannot pick a favorite. They both hook me for different reasons. It is impressive hearing a song handled so well in two different ways. I would love to see them start the show with the acoustic version and close with the electric. That would be pretty epic.

"I Have a Fever" is the rocker on this record. The guitar work in the intro is really catchy. The riff is heavy, and the rhythm is solid. The drums hang out under the riff, giving the occasional bit of flash to let you know they're still there. The bass sometimes acts like a rhythm guitar, other times solidifying the drums. The shifting between the two phases is done very well.

The record wraps with "The Scorpion Stings in Am." This is a quick, two-and-a-half-minute acoustic guitar piece that showcases some serious talent. Reminiscent of classical guitar, this could be a piece written in 1821 or 2021. The tempo is quick, but the tone is relaxing. It really is a beautiful piece of work.

FEANOR checks a lot of boxes. Talent, writing skills, playing skills and a wide array of sounds. This is an impressive record just based on the variety of the tunes. The guitar work is pretty exquisite. This is a gateway record that makes me want to check out their other works. Definitely worth playing this on loop for a few days just to catch all there is to offer on the disc.
