FALLOCH is a Scottish Ambient Rock/Metal outfit, which origins began as a two piece in 2010.  The sound borrows equally from Ambient, Doom, Experimental, and Hard Rock, with touches of Pop sprinkled throughout.  This seven track opus entitled "This Island Our Funeral" is a decidedly darker journey than the bands debut release entitled "Where Distant Spirits Remain."  From the opening track "Tirradh," to the final moments of the closer entitled "Santuary," the listener is on a melancholic musical journey.  Nothing is particularly standout on any of the tracks but rather a wash of slow moving, dreary, soundscapes.

The band has a way of lulling you in with a bit of melody, which rises and falls with the crescendos of each track.  I can't help but feel a  bit of similarity in the vocal delivery to Pete Loeffler of CHEVELLE.  This album while moody, and well written did not have enough at the core to hold my attention throughout, it seemed to endlessly plod along serving as nothing more than nice background music.  Very well crafted and executed background music, but background music still the same.
