FaithXtractor - The Great Shadow Infiltrator album cover

In a context that goes mainly to Death Metal, but alternates between the brutal and the old school, the American band FAITHXTRACTOR has just released their second studio album "The Great Shadow Infiltrator". The two brothers Ash & Marquis Thomas from the city of Cincinnati in the region of Ohio try to have a set of components between the riffs and the quality of production to finish with a unique sound of its kind.

One thing surprised me is that from the first minute you can feel the rage emerging from a great suffocation. If you had a bad day, the only refuge is to listen to this album. So it was not necessary to make an introduction, straight to the point the message arrives directly with the first two tracks "The Holographic Beast" and "The Six Redshield Of Knives". What can I call it classical Death Metal in the way of "Morbid Angel" continued with "Earth Anvil" with more direct and uncomplicated ideas supported with endless blast beats. And as for what chained, "All Forms Reptilian" begins with a very melodic intro and continued with brutality and a short but perfect enough solo. "Third And Final" does not leave you time to get rested, as usual with the regular good ingredients. But frankly that marks the radical change is the Title track "The Great Shadow Infiltrator" that left me with mouth open wide...

In fact the two brothers also know how to change temperament and alternated with lower tempos and more melodic, I can even say that it's Doom / Death perfectly executed. Since this change, I feel a little tournament to more experimentation with "The Eye At The Divide". But the song "Freedom Conditional" guided me towards more Thrash before returned to the Doomy side of this album with "Coffle". And to end the Americans are trying to return to more blast beats with the colors of Punk / Hardcore by linking with "With Cold Calculation" and "The Long Shakling Usurped".

Finally, this album is an alternation between several sub-genres of Death Metal by producing an original sound and kept the same energy level from the beginning to the end. And what really impressed me is the desire to compose in an old school line with a lot of inspiration.
