What's up Death/Doom Metal maniacs? I'm here once again to give you an insight on EXTREME COLD WINTER's new EP: "Paradise Ends Here"

From the get go, I sensed a Black Metal band here but I was dead wrong. Yes, even from the artwork and band title name. You might too also think this first hand. But don't be deceived or judge a book by it's cover immediately. What we REALLY have here is a Death Metal band fused with the smelling stench of Doom Metal in the air. Now, one could argue that there is also a Black Metal sense there as well; as I first came to realize first hand in the final tracks: "Siberian Darkness" and "One Liquid Waters".

Another description, would be: "Dark and Depressive Old School Death/Doom Metal"; which, I assume could also be: "Depressive Black Metal", which most Black metallers know of. It's really a crazy fusion when you think about it, and this is evident in the song "Warriors Of The Wasteland" I began to hear a brutal sound of Death Metal, with vocals; instrumentation, included with a fusion of Death and Black Metal vocals. There really is a lot to mention here, within genres basics.

On all guitars... AJ van Drenth really knows how to fuse this deadly combination of genres and make it sound like an all-in-one Black/Death/Doom Metal band. Pim Blankenstein on vocals has a particularly fine but deadly and typically nasty Black/Death Metal vocals (in a good way of course), this is definitely noteworthy in: "Siberian Darkness". He pulled off some monstrous vocals which is a pinpoint as to why you should check this EP out.

Not to forget about the crushing power of Seth van de Loo's drumming; which really had something special about it. On top of the fusion of power with Michiel Dekker on guest bass; expect a powerhouse of mental precision; groove, power and technique.

"Paradise Ends Here" is a fairly long EP that gives you a taste of things to come. 4 songs that last up to 6 minutes at the most with the title track "Paradise Ends Here" only being a 1 minute closing song. While "Warriors Of The Wasteland" introduced a very fine but groovy tone to it, which I dug really hard... "The Cosmic Rain", "Siberian Darkness" and "One Liquid Waters"; in short, all sound fairly similar to each other, but on the musician's and consumer's point of view, I personally believe that EXTREME COLD WINTER is a new band that Death/Black/Doom fans will appreciate "Paradise Ends Here" for what it is.

So, is EXTREME COLD WINTER's "Paradise Ends Here" EP worth trying out you may ask? Yes, most definitely. If you want to expand your Metal horizons and listen to some truly underground and brutal stuff, look no further, if your paradise is ending due to some nonsense at work, life or whatever... Blank that crap out and treat yourself with this here band - and enjoy the living crap out of it. If not; still listen to it anyway, you won't regret it.
