"As Legends Fade And Gods Die", I love the title alone. This is the latest work of New Zealand's Death Metal mates that make up, EXORDIUM MORS. I have a good feeling that this one may not be as lyrically challenged as some others that we may have heard before, hopefully. Auckland's finest are presenting to us their long awaited second album. It is available on digital or vinyl.

Speed, dynamics, melody, vitriol, and outright violence is how they present themselves. Lyrically rising from ancient Roman and Hellenic wisdom, with a little Satanism, along beside some Nietzschean thought. Life experience drawn from metal scenes in both their current home and South East Asia. That combination helps them understand the basic commonalities of humanity, both the good and bad. Sometimes described as Blackthrash, the band disagrees. They consider the lyrics harsher, darker and more complicated than their peers. They have had plenty of time to perfect it. It has been eight years since their last release.

Technical is the first thing that I notice and ripping! Literally. To the moon we go. This first song, "Saw Oblivion", will grind you down to almost nothing. It gave me that feeling before I even new the title of what I was listening to. I can quickly tell that they are on a different kind of mission here. I'm digging it. I like what they are trying to do, or are doing. It is a little bit of a different approach, more complex, but I find it musically refreshing and I am already looking forward to what is to come next.

Everyone is putting their finest work in here. It is now obvious what they have been doing  and perfecting in the many years in between. "Flesh Of The Heathen", is just a fun title that I had to share. They didn't leave much meat on the bone with this one. I think these guys may be a little crazy. Lol. It is a long song and I have no desire to turn it off. It even has an Ozzy/Randy Rhodes sounding moment in the middle that was worth the wait before the melody finally slows to a trance like pace. This is quite the piece of work, definitely worth the mention.

I like snakes, so I am a fan of "Surrounded By Snakes", the number four song. That may be more for the title I believe, but it is a pounding song. Briefly slowing in the middle, we are now halfway through the seven songs and raging down the hill again like we are in a loose cart with no reigns. There is a lot going on, it's getting a little jumbled, busy and complicated at certain points towards the end, but it is memorable as far as how the production has been laid out. I can't quit listening because I'm curious to what they are going to come up with next, I guess that is a good thing.
