Sometimes, due the worldwide recognition of the Greek extreme Metal scene (due names as ROTTING CHRIST, NECROMANTIA, VARATHRON, NIGHTFALL, SUICIDAL ANGELS, to name some of them), it can the country has a "traditional" extreme insight. No, that's not true, because there are bands from melodic genres as well, and even some that prefer modern genres. EXOMNIA is of these that prefer something modern, as "Aftermath", their first release (an EP, to be exact) shows.

Although a bit immature, their musical efforts are done in a form of modern Melodic Death Metal, but with vocals done with grunts and snarls in the old way. There are very good melodies on their songs (especially during the guitar solos), a good technical work (bass guitar and drums creates very good rhythmic parts), keyboards doing a good job (but could be more technical in some moments) and it's full of an amazing energy. Yes, they're pretty good, and the band is really a promising name. Kostas Kofinas (a new name on studio productions from Greece) recorded and mixed the songs from the EP. And his work is really great, giving the songs the necessary weight and aggressiveness, but always creating something clean and that can be understood easily. Yes, it's truly very good.

This first release has five very good songs, all of them rich in fine musical arrangements, and with tons of abrasive energy. After some seconds of an intro done by keyboards comes "Departure", a song with very good melodies and using contrasts of clean and guttural voices on the chorus, followed by "Tragedy", a song with the same elements, but that shows great guitar works (the melodies are extremely catchy). The rhythm of "Despair" shows a slow pace, but with some technical parts of bass guitar and drums that are really good, and it has very good choruses as well, what is shown in great shape on "Wrath" as well (very good guitars once more). And "Ascension" shows chaotic technical tempos, where some keyboard parts are amazing, but as it becomes aggressive, the guitars put the house down.

EXOMNIA is really a very talented band, and deserves applause. Just a bit more maturing and no one will resist to their work. "Aftermath" is just the beginning...
