Coming from the hills of Memphis, Tennessee is EVERY MOTHER'S NIGHTMARE who released their sixth album, "Grind" on October 6th 2017. EVERY MOTHER'S NIGHTMARE has been around since the 90's but now they are receiving more recognition than ever. At first they were in the hair and glam metal scene, but now they are giving listeners a big taste of southern grunge. "Grind" features five songs from their previous EP album in 2015 in addition to three live tracks and three new tracks. I am not particularly fond of grunge and bands like ALICE IN CHAINS. I tried to listen, but I couldn't get into it. Fortunately I was able to appreciate EVERY MOTHER'S NIGHTMARE'S music and now I feel embarrassed at the fact that I did not discover this band sooner. "Grind" has some great songs that have a bluesy, southern rock charm to it. Some of the songs that stuck out in the album were "Upper Hand," "Sacred Circle," and "Days Are Through."
"Grind" kicks it off with "Loco Crazy," an extremely catchy, riff screaming tune that would be no doubt be featured on the radio. The live tracks from Minglewood Hall of Memphis "Closet Down The Hall," "Push" and "Walls Come Down" are upbeat, edgy and gritty. No wonder why they have been around since the 90s! They have a great live sound and Ruhl's voice is on point with it all which makes it an enjoyable performance. "Blown Away" is another fan favorite, a great tune that I can see playing in the background of Sons of Anarchy! It has the edgy, soothing, relaxing vibe that you would feel in a bar while chugging down some Jack Daniels. Overall, EVERY MOTHER'S NIGHTMARE is a band that has come back stronger than before and people are realizing it and putting their music on the Itunes list. While I do not generally listen to this kind of music, I found myself respectfully enjoying it from start to finish!
