Everwood - Mind Games album cover

Everwood is a progressive Metal band from Hungary. This band shows an impressive mastery over their instruments but suffer from a tendency to put too much technical frosting on the cake which has a tendency to drown out what would otherwise be tight melodies.
Everyone in Everwood does their job, sometimes more than is good for the music. I would not be surprised if they were classically trained. Their sound is big, and spans a far distance. I hear elements of jazz, broadway, royal sounding classical and even a little Psychotic Waltz and Dream Theater in their mix. Balazs Koncz Balu has a strong accent and they did not include the lyrics in the album sleeve, making understanding him fairly difficult. His voice can be either smooth or rough and I think if he really wanted to he could go further either way. I do not like the first song, which is really a spoken introduction to the second track.
The melodically tense Heart So Cold, the chiming instrumental Pagan and the dark anger of The Two Of Use are my favorite tracks from this release.
