"Armageddon Genesis" is the fourth full-length from Eversin hailing from Agrigento, Sicily.  The topic of the day is Italian Groove Metal.  Evidently, there is a time warp in Sicily where 1998 is every day.  Thankfully, the rest of the world is loosened from this curse, a forever-reminder of no matter how bad things get, there's always...  Thinking about Groove Metal, I found my thoughts wandering, searching for PISSING RAZORS. The first proper track is the second, "Legions".  What largely ensues, though, is what sounds like SOULFLY worship.  The album has just started and is already looking again at the fetid, bloated corpse that was Nu-Metal.

The fourth track, "Soulgrinder" has a main riff that sounds like strings unwinding from their wrap at the core.  On a good note, the song features Ralph Santolla, Death Metal über guitarist who just recently passed away.  Even the drummer was bitten by the bug as he vainly tries to insert extra kick hits to give the song more bounce.  It just made it sound crowded and even more uncomfortable.  The solo was pretty good. The fifth track, "Havoc Supreme," was a milestone.  I thought hope had been lost, but at 1:08, I found myself nodding my head.  It sounded like one of the better riffs from "Roots". The seventh track, "Seven Heads," is an example of the band perhaps at their best.  The solo is definitely the high mark instrumentally with its deftly played melodic excursion through minor territories.

When the band is its most aggressive, it sounds a lot like 90s-era SLAYER, primarily impotent dud, "Diabolus In Musica" in the way SLAYER suddenly sounded really raw and devoid of any treble or presence in the mix at all.  With very few exceptions, the Nu-Metal era is thankfully over.  Talent and depth were hard to find.  Look what happened to Fear Factory!  Obviously, though, the band know somebody, and their live show has to be a step up.  Lee Wollenschlaeger provides guest vocals on the eighth track which bears the album's title. Ultimately, though cultural gaps could map the geography of my troubled relationship with this album.  Some of what sound like quirks to me, could possibly just be accepted norms.  Whatever happened to PISSING RAZORS?
