Batman & Robin, Tom & Jerry, Akis & Alexander... so many dynamic duos out there its getting hard to keep track of everyone of them. The last mentioned of them is the duo behind EVENTIDE, an interesting band from Greece.
Started as STORMBRINGER back in 2001 as a full band they played a lot of gigs and they had plans for the recording of a demo. Unfortunately due to personal differences members departed and since then the band continues as a duo. Around the end of 2004 they changed name to EVENTIDE and recorded a full length CD, fragments of this work are included in this 4 track demo.
Their style brings in mind the US power thrash of early 90's (call me ICED EARTH) yet at the same time they adopt many acoustic and melodic parts that enrich their songs and making them more complicated. Without being original in anyway (apart being the first Greek act that adopts this kind of sound as far as I can recall) this band offers a very interesting blend of powerful and emotional metal that lucks only a good production to break even with international acts. Also Alex's vocals need a lot of work.
However apart those two points I mention this demo really left me great expectations for the full debut CD of the band. And though I cannot speak about the vocal parts I think they have time to improve the production. You can get in touch with the band at: Eventidemail@yahoo.gr
