EVANGELIST is a Doom Metal band that formed in 2008 in Poland. Their first full-length was released in 2011. "Ad Mortem Festinamus" is their latest EP release, and contains six tracks. "Perceval" opens with album, with some spoken words. In comes the heavy and laborious guitar riff. The vocals are clean at first, and then come together in harmonies in the chorus. The riff is a bit lackluster but we'll see where it goes from here. For me, it sounds more like slowed down Power Metal than Doom per se.

"Anubis (On the Onyx Throne of Death)" begins with a slow and powerful riff. It has the same sound as the first track...it's Doom-ish but really doesn't venture out much. Even for the genre, it does not excite me much. "The Puritan" is unfortunately more of the same...a slow and trite riff, that stays grounded, with lackluster vocals. I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. "Pale Lady of Mercy" begins with some clean guitars that are a bit sad sounding. This is the first track with a bit of diversity. But, it's not long before another easy riff hits, and it's a riff that you have heard before for sure. The drone of the song is just overwhelming.

"Towards the End" features another slow and grinding riff and nearly the same sound as the other tracks. They aren't even trying to venture out here at all. I generally like the genre of Doom Metal but this EP is quite boring. They do work in a few moments of melody with the guitar solo. "Mystification (Manilla Road)" closes the album, beginning with some melancholy clean guitars. The sound is lamenting here but again does not venture out much. It's a fairly fitting ending to a rather unimaginable EP.

Having no experience with the band, I can't really comment on their previous works. But this EP was just boring and not at all creative. It seems the band has settled on a sound that they are not willing to move from. That is fine, sticking to your roots, but if you want to attract new fans, you are going to have to do a lot better than this.
