Eternal Gray - Your Gods

Some necessary notes: The band is coming from Haifa, Israel. ETERNAL GREY recorded their debut album "Kindless" at Abyss Studios having Peter Tagtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN) as a producer. Participations of Peter Tagtgren and Marcel Schmier (DESTRUCTION) as guest vocalists on several tracks raised the quality of the first album in high levels.

Well, "Your Gods, My Enemies" is coming up after the excellent "Kindless" release. ETERNAL GREY's debut album contained and provided a perfectly understandable idea about the kind of Metal they're playing. On the new album, they're trying to absorb ideas from different Metal styles like of NEVERMORE, especially when the guitars are concerned. They're trying to be unique on putting in mixed hints taken from several of styles; I must admit that this is not a proper musical evolution for a Death Metal band, at least not expected to be.

Another disadvantage is the monotone growls of Oren Balbus. He practically didn't give me the sense to listen to his voice for a long period of time. On the other hand, the great benefit is that the guitarists are in an excellent form and their manner reminds me LUNA FIELD's works. Furthermore, the atmosphere of the whole album took me back to MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION and some influences from DECAPITATED's latest album. ETERNAL GREY is trying to give a colorful Death Metal album but their music is quite insipid and lacking. Some tracks are interesting like "Lost Control", "Controlled", "Inner Anger" and "Your Gods, My Enemies" but the rest are not giving anything to the listener.
