Esoctrilihum - Inhuma album cover

The only thing that I could find out about this French band was a statement made on their Facebook page. "ESOCTRILIHUM plays unholy music inspired by chaotic visions of an unknown dimension." "Inhuma" is the band's third album, and contains eight tracks. "Incursus into Daeth Hausth" leads off the album. There is muted production amidst the chaos of vocals and instruments. The form of the song is almost amorphous, let it ride and take you through the bowels of hell and to the place where Lucifer awaits. The vocals are barely above guttural utterances and although there is a discernable pattern, this music is meant to frighten you, and frighten you it does. "Blodh Sacremonh" is more of the same chaos. The vocals speak commands, urging you to take up a blade and join the sacrifice. It settles into a harrowing groove at one point, then transforms into an ambient song with some drawn out guitar notes.

"Exhortathyon Od Saths Scriptum" is the album's longest song, at over eight minutes. It opens with an absolutely punishing and brow-beating rhythm, intent on taking your life. A hypnotizing groove comes at one point, replaced pretty quickly by an agonizing and chilling scream that turns your blood to ice. The madness continues through the end of the track. "Dramanth Urh" starts off with a fairly traditional sounding riff with a lot going on in the background. Guitars build and the drum presence increases, as the track morphs here and there, shifting more times than you can count. "Sinsnhy'lh" opens with more intensity and a gut-wrenching wail. The intensity burns like a hot fire, scorching everything in its path. Every now and again, this evil passage erupts, complete with veiled chants, and you would swear something evil is being summoned. It's fascinating.

"Yhyry'lhn (The Last Age if Ukhn)" hears some of the fierce intensity die just a bit, in favor of a more discernible pattern of Black Metal. It still rages considerably, but just lets in a little more room to breathe. There is a bizarre violin passage about half way through that seems just a bit out of place, but it just adds to the flavor of the music. "Aevendh Sadh" starts off with some tense guitar tones that act like a warning. When the madness begins, it is pretty chaotic, rumbling the very ground beneath you. Once again, the vocals command your bidding. "Lorth Volth Lynhnzale (Lost in the Storm of Itshka Blood)" opens with strings and some background ambiance. For the first time, we can hear a semblance of some order. It doesn't last long however, as the smoke rolls in and covers everything in black.

One thing is for sure...in a world full of commonplace music, I, Voidhanger Records is the industry leader in finding the most extreme acts out there. "Inhuma" is a scathing and raucous album, filled with chaos, and more hate than mankind has for himself. It's one of the most intense listening experiences you will have, and, together with some unconventional elements, one of the most unique listening experiences you will have as well.
