Night's Black Angel
Erebus Enthroned

EREBUS ENTHRONED, a name not well known in the Metal scene, but since I had read quite a few good things about this Australian Black Metal, it is no novelty that groups like DAWN OF AZAZEL, DESTROYER666, ABYSTIC HATE, RUINS, etc. have been making a name in the underground Metal scene, for the quality of their productions and the catching moments of their songs. In that order of ideas EREBUS ENTHRONED, a quartet from Sidney who has released their first album under the name "Night's Black Angel". There's definitely a Norse or Swedish influence in the composition, somewhere between MAYHEM and IMMORTAL, delivered through full riffing, dynamic variation and high production standards and some material that's comparable to many of the great names of the genre.
One of the most noteworthy things in this album is the capacity to mix the accelerated Black Metal riffs with the mid-paced tempo incorporated in almost all the tracks. This is a rather good idea since the majority of bands look for a simplistic line that does not separate them from the bands with major names; but even with this good intention, the music could turn into something repetitive, which becomes even boring, if you're not a great fan of the Black Metal music.
Therefore, EREBUS ENTHRONED makes an impact, it sounds aggressive, raw, breathtaking and full of energy that derived from the drum & bass section. But then you will see it clear that this is a band that has no difference from the rest of the Black Metal scene. This isgood of course, but in your memory you'll never remember a line or a riff, because when a band sounds like everyone else, making a Black Metal song isn't that of a new deal.
EREBUS ENTHRONED know what they do, and know it very well. So if you like an angry and fast Black Metal band, give it a chance. Maybe they would become one of your top's list because "Night's Black Angel" provides at least a strong foundation. Nevertheless, if you're looking for something new and innovative.... this is not a good place to start.
