What do you get when you combine brutal Death Metal with Metal / Deathcore? Besides an emotionally unstable George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher of course, Well, you get ERADICATED, a Berlin based Deathcore crew. A creepy sounding intro welcomes us into this brutal album, soon giving way to its opening track "Cerebral Decline" mixing the Death and the Core right into it, for much of the track it is more of a standard Grind / Death affair with deep Death growls with a rare appearance by more screaming vocals.

The music itself tends to be a bit annoying at times trying to mix too much of the "Core" into what could have been a great Death Metal song, and that plagues the album a bit for its remainder. "Above the Damned" opens in an interesting way with some great guitar and bass work, fast playing and fast spewed growling make its start unusual, but again the attempts to fuse the two styles seem a bit futile at times, the song simply tends to lose its identity several times despite its short playtime.

This is a very interesting record, as it attempts to blend two very distinct styles in Deathcore and traditional Death Metal. My problem is that for the most part it fails, it just seems to me that most of the "Core" present on the album was put there more for the bands enjoyment of playing the more complex riffs and beats than because it fits the actual direction of the music, it just doesn't seem to blend very well and instead of giving the album a fresh edge it gives it an overload of changes making it seem almost progressive metal in that regard.

Having said that the record is actually not that bad, and that's a huge compliment coming from someone who utterly despises all things "Core". The musicianship on the album is very good, and as I said this album does give a nod to Prog Metal at times, the vocals are classic death metal with a great new edge to them, very deep and aggressive. I would certainly recommend anyone who enjoys more modern and original Metal to give it a once around and see what they think, it may not be my "cup of tea" but it's actually pretty good for an album that tends to lose its own identity at times.
