Unsung Heroes
Ensiferum

I had mixed feelings about this album, on one hand: ENSIFERUM, one of my favorite bands of all time, on the other hand: this album is not even close to what they have used to show their fans, this album is like what Sun Tzu said: "If you know yourself but not the enemy, for each battle won, you will have lost a battle".
This album is full of passages that will remind you how good this band is... and then, you will be lost in the forest. The great opening, united with "In My Sword I Trust", seems to be stopped in time merely because of the mid tempo that will be constant along the album. The extreme power that has managed to make ENSIFERUM a world class band is lost, sometimes revives and then... falls again short.
The production is nothing but amazing, obviously showing the great effort in the making, the voices are really great, and of course the instrumentation is by far one of the best they have made, the riffs are very well played, the percussion fits perfectly and the keys give that "battle" atmosphere that I assume they wanted.
In conclusion I say: not good, not bad, is in the middle point, where easily they could go forward again, or arrive to the point of no return.
