Hailing from Sweden and formed in 2019 comes Stoner/Doom Metal band ENDTIME and their newest album "Impending Doom." From their Bandcamp page, "Impending Doom," words more true now than ever before! Not only is the world on a downward spiral to annihilation but it's also the name of ENDTIME's forthcoming LP soon to be released on Heavy Psych Sounds Records. It contains six tracks so powerful that it makes the Tzar Bomba look like a firecracker. Put the needle to the wax and you will experience the sound of a thousand collapsing stars and a feeling like hell is imploding and heaven is falling."

"Harbinger of Disease" opens the album. It opens with spoken word and then a heavy riff drops with downtuned guitars and bell strikes. The vocals are harsh and echo with all of the fury of a man at the end of his rope. "ICBM" also opens with spoken word, talking about missiles. I am sensing a theme here. The music is much like the first song...slow, lumbering riffs and angry shouted vocals. As is often the case in Doom Metal, there isn't much variation. "They Live" begins with some softer tones as well as some light symphonic elements. Bass guitar and drums dance together tentatively. The main riff drops another desperate dose of Doom Metal into your lap.

"Cities on Fire with the Burning Flesh of Men" is quite a visual mouthful. It's a much longer song without much variation again. A repetitive midsection occupies much of the song, without vocals. "Living Graves" closes the album, beginning with some ominous organ notes until the main riff plods in again with the same vocal style. I think the band believes they will eventually pound you into submission, but it doesn't happen. Doom Metal can absolutely be dynamic, but you need to think outside the box a bit. Unfortunately, this album is about as generic as the genre has to offer. Doom purists might find some things to their liking here, bit the album was very mediocre for this reviewer.
