Brazilian ENDRAH have a lot to be angry about in their latest release "The Culling", with lyrics conveying outrage about the state of humanity in today's society, and music to reinforce this message. But, in saying that, they also have a lot to be proud of. Formed in 2003, the Deathcore band encourages their fans to really listen to what their music is saying, and urges them to act accordingly. ENDRAH puts forth an unforgiving vengeance, and welcomes the world of Metal to join them.

Right from the get-go, "The Culling" introduces the displeased temperament of the band. The opening track "Over It" depicts how the band is just that: sick and tired of the current global circumstance. The guitars will get you hooked to the music, but the lyrics will get you thinking about the song's message. The following track "Silver Tongue" has recently been released as a music video, which you can view below. It illustrates how those in positions of authority abuse their power, and attempt to pacify citizens through deceit and corruption. However, the band aren't convinced, and show multiple shots of protestors fighting the government regime as well as images of tanks to emphasize the conflicts occurring in Brazil, as well as all over the world. The third track "All Shores Are At Risk" further reiterates the need to fight against injustice, with statements such as "I will always protest" and "you couldn't be more wrong". There are also a multitude of breakdowns, which is always good.

As the album reaches its second trimester (yup, I'm making a baby metaphor, it's the band's gestating baby), the band idealises a future of "Salvation and Serenity", as well as showcasing their musical talents and synchronicity. The track that follows, "The Palace is Smashed", has an awesome intro, featuring catchy riffs and drums that get your head banging in perfect time. A spoken voice comes in over the music, before the relentless growls of "Relentless" assume their place. "Don't Fuck With Your Own" consists of ferocious double-kicking, and the guitars also pick up the pace. The themes of rage and vengeance are as alive as ever, with lyrics such as "look at me now, motherfucker".

The final third of the album takes off with the CD's title track, "The Culling". The drums are rapid, the guitars vicious and the vocals irate, and all are put together perfectly. "Incorruptible" opens with a breakdown, and the music that follows is as heavy as ever, the band proving that nothing and no one can corrupt the integrity of metal. The final track really shows the band's views of those currently in a state of power, and they aren't nice views. "They Want to Kill Us All" ends the album with an enraged bang, and with guitars and drums that are at high risk of getting speeding tickets.

As well as being musically awesome, this band has an essential message to convey to the public. "The Culling" forces you to think about political issues that you may be unaware of, or that you may be unconsciously ignoring. ENDRAH make both Brazil and the Deathcore genre proud with this latest release, a definite recommendation for all who seek to fight injustice through the power of Metal.
