Endonmos - Endonomos album cover

"ENDONOMOS unleashes a fierce blend of sinister and menacing Doom/Death, yet with epic melodies of classic doom metal. Low and weighty grunt-vocals are continually breached by melodic, clean vocals, the thunderous rhythm guitar is accompanied by numerous highly melodic lead guitars and, from time to time, fragile clean parts. The lyrics are mostly contemplative and on a meta level, covering topics like religion, transcendence, shiftlessness or evolution." The album contains six songs.

"Wither and Thrive" is the first. Following some opening clean tones, the main riff drops like lead from the sky, heavy and slow. Deep gutturals combine with smooth cleans and some lead notes to create a monumental sound. "Barrier" moves with a little more haste, but those deep guitar tones and guttural vocals seem to come from miles underneath the earth. Heavy guitar rhythms chug underneath, and the drums roll slowly forward. "Atropos" it a lengthy ten-minute song. Smooth, easy clean guitar tones open the song, with a somber edge. Another heavy riff roars in, the all the might of a lion's roar. Filthy, vile gutturals follow, and you feel dirty even passing by them casually. The sound drops to solemn tones after the half-way mark, with some smoking leads.

"Weary" describes the song title well. The tones are sleepy, and fatigued, and you can feel the energy of the subject is nearly spent. How can he press on when his world is bleak, and forever grey? "Rejoice" is an interesting title, because there is very little to revel in. The song brings out deep emotions and feelings of dejection and insecurity. The feelings are intensified in the rising key of the harsh vocals. The length of this song will wear on your psyche. "Theft" closes the album, with a strong balance of weighted punishment and more delicate sounds. In the end however, the heavy tones win the battle, toppling the tower with a crushing force.

Overall, this was a fine specimen of deep Doom and Death Metal, with enough delicate moments to keep it interesting. The album has a way of making you feel lost, dejected, and totally hopeless, and that's exactly what a good Doom album should do.Purchase Link:
