Brought to life in Almeria, Spain is ENDLESS. While "Mad Sick Mind" marks their first release via Necromance Records, this is the bands fifth release. Thus, calling them a new band is understandably laughable as you dive into "Mad Sick Mind." Released on June 16th 2018, "Mad Sick Mind" is far from an infantile debut. ENDLESS utilizes not only acquired skill but an actual passion in their creations. Most fans think that the point of death metal is to be as loud, as fast and as extreme as you can, sometimes the point of capturing true suffering gets lost in the wall of noise. "Mad Sick Mind" is likely the most frightening album I have heard. Not only is the music brutal, it actually made me feel it, not just hear it.

"Rebirth" is merely the calm before the storm. Don't be disillusioned by its ambient composure. It lures in the way a psychopath charismatically turns on the charm and convinces you that everything is ok. But it's not. As soon as it's over buckle up for "Destroy My Life." A merciless onslaught of darkened death metal that is intricate but not overly complicated. As cunning as a seasoned serial killer this premeditated excursion of audible pleasure whips and tears through flesh leaving not a trace of behind. "Where Is Your God" is joined by the symphonic sounding keys of a black metal ritual. The musical playing style mixes all elements of standard death metal but is given the unexpected turns and twists found in a more technical metal. A typical song structure is uncommon here as the changes are frequent but not clustered or out of place. The song ends by offering a classical acoustic section that subtly inserts overdubbed harmonies on what sounds like a nylon stringed guitar.

"Mad Sick Mind" offers a newer approach to traditional melodic death metal. The lead harmonies played over the rhythm are comparable to old AMORPHIS, but more technical and not in the same repetitive key. Alongside the vocals, it seems to tell its own tale. As if delivering two perspectives of the same story. "Part of God" delivers saddened strings that play a dyers funeral summary. This melodic masterpiece is poised with classical technique and the guitar alone tells a tale of finality. Melodic and brilliant as if to be the GARY HOEY of death metal. Demonstrating cultural sounds of an era lived before our time when death was a tribute and while it is sorrowful, music was played with honor, respect, and grace.

Overall the vocals are extremely deep, processed similarly to PSYCLON NINE, yet the words are enunciated enough to understand here and there. By the way, that monstrous vocal, is coming from a chick. That is impressive. The guitar tone is thick and hearty and no doubt took a while to perfect. It is obvious, at least to me, that the drums are programmed. This is not a downfall. As KMFDM said, "It's done by machines cuz they don't make mistakes." Programming death metal is easy, these songs, this style, must have taken forever. The fact that it is programmed and still plays through with the stylings of an actual drummer is just amazing. ENDLESS has created something spectacular with "Mad Sick Mind." Offering a sensation that stimulates more than your ears. Expression through music that is not only intricate, technical, dark, and brutally heavy, but makes you feel it in your chest. This is seriously some sick metal.
