END OF SEPTEMBER's self-titled debut album is another release from the massive factory of Metal, Sweden.END OF SEPTEMBER is a female fronted band that has been around since 2009 and was started by Erik Tordsson. The band's music direction is towards Gothic Metal and the press kit promotes them as a band for those like WITHIN TEMPTATION and EVANESCENCE. I disagree on that since they are using also brutal vocals which those bands do not have and I would instead categories towards the likes of EPICA but yet again they are not a Symphonic Metal band. Anyway tags are just for promotion; let's get to the serious stuff.

Nine tracks and 36 minutes of music is what I found in the "End of September". Songs are of mid tempo - the typical for this kind of music. There are some occasional double bass drums but in general all the standard patterns of gothic metal are found here. Sometimes the riffs get a bit harsher but it's not something that alters the song. Noteworthy songs are the opener (there is also a video for it which you can watch below), "Fallen", "Exile" and "Autumn Breaks".

Concerning the technical stuff of the record the production is great and suits well with the music of the band. Everything is clear and at the right levels and the songs sound great. The record doesn't have any technical parts but the band plays tight. The biggest plus of the record is Elin's voice which might remind Sharon den Adel in some parts but other than that she is really great and perfect for this kind of music. What I didn't like at all in this record is the brutal vocals. They are most of the times out of place and I personally see no fit in this kind of music style. But that's just my personal opinion. The final impression of the END OF SEPTEMBER record is that it is a honest effort and that people who are into kind of music would really enjoy it. Concerning the room for improvement and getting something better next time? More than enough.
