The word Progressive in the Rock and Metal music is often associated with long songs that take a lot of elements from their undoubtedly talented musicians to create an album. To some listeners of Rock and Metal; Progressive is a wonderful thing, a great thing to chill out to whereas those who like their music to be concise and straight to the point it's not usually their place to start. Newish Progressive Rock band END BEGIN are a breath of fresh air and you will find out why when you listen to their debut album "Empire Fools".

Their story begins in Leeds, UK 2010 when the band formed together; since then they have built up a cult following, touring the Northern underground circuit. They have been focusing on production to create this beautiful debut. Their cult of followers will not be disappointed with the soulful, ambient vibes of this Progressive quartet.

"Empire Fools" is a beautiful record that consists of howling guitars, expressive vocal work and thumping drums. Tracks such as "Missionary", "Numbers" and "Remants" demonstrate this exceptionally well. What's also admirable about this album is that no track sounds the same as the last yet they somehow emerge together nicely with no sudden abruptness.

This album is the very reason why the choice of what music you listen to shouldn't be affected by genre choice yet whether you like the band. Understandably someone can be affected by the genre of the album before even listening to it, which is a little bit disappointing. Often bands in genres you wouldn't twice at often tend to be the biggest surprises.

So overall thoughts of the album; give it a listen even if Progressive Rock isn't the first thing you'll listen to. END BEGIN is an original addition to the list of new bands making it on the list of ever growing bands and if this album doesn't ensure their breakthrough into the industry who knows what will.
