Skotos - DEMO
Empathy

Now here's an interesting piece of work. Empathy with their second recording attempt to prove once again that the Greek underground scene still has a lot to offer. And even though their material balances between more than three - four genres of Metal music the outcome can only be described as solid. Thinking about it I can't recall the last time I heard something this interesting from a new Greek act!
Empathy was formed in September 2002 in Alexandria (hail!). Started as a Punk / Thrash act, soon after several lineup changes the sound took a more extreme direction (Death Metal). Many live shows followed and in March 2004 the band entered Mix Studios in order to record their simply entitled promo, Promo 2004. The same studio was used to record this mini CD.
Balancing between Death, Black, Thrash and Atmospheric Metal, Empathy really capture the listener's attention with their imaginative compositions. I found it really hard to pick a song out of the bunch since all are of the same high quality. Some influences from Dark Tranquility or In Flames may emerge here and there (especially in the song Necrosis) but the truth is that the band has really managed to fuse all their influences in a very delicate way.
The production is very good (especially the guitars and drums) and really helps the compositions show their detailed structure. Empathy deserve our attention and I really hope to hear news from them soon (maybe with a full length release?).
