Embryonic Devourment - Heresy Of The Highest Order album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT; signed via Unique Leader Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Technical/Brutal Death Metal, on their 4th full-length studio album entitled: "Heresy Of The Highest Order" (released February 25th, 2022). Since formation in 2003; the trio in question have an EP entitled: "Beheaded By Violation" (released December 2003), 3 Splits entitled: "From The Tomb To The Womb / Mutinous Beheading" (released 2009), "Embryonic Devourment / Violent Opposition' (released July 9th, 2014), "Kings Of Slam" (released July 13th, 2015), a Demo entitled: "Vivid Era Practice Session" (released June 23rd, 2016) & 4 full-length studio albums entitled: "Fear Of Reality Exceeds Fantasy" (released February 2008), "Vivid Interpretations Of The Void" (released August 24th, 2010), "Reptilian Agenda" (released February 18th, 2014) & this here 4th album entitled: "Heresy Of The Highest Order" of which I am introduced to. 8 tracks ranging at around 37:26 - EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT arrange an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Technical/Brutal Death Metal amalgamations.

Opening up with this technical barrage frenzy immediately within "Cathy O'Brein Experience"; this vibrantly potent remedy trembles speakers with progressive precision, while rumbling tempo reverberates with monolithic strife & sonically seamless panache. A boisterously bouncy bellowing brutally crafts an immensely intense attribute in amplified snarls, scouring mobility & towering meatiness. Where nothing but an extreme momentum on radically wicked flexibility fundamentally rattles souls with thudding sturdiness, and bulldozing stridency. Pummelling eardrums impulses an impactfully chiselling beatdown on symbolic ramifications that revel with riveting pursuits on organic substance, volatile swerve & visceral maelstrom tactics. The titular tracks distil a primitively raw melody on weighty tightness & punchy perseverance, revolving around a dense hybrid in experimental finesse that trembles with sulphurous melody.

Consisting of twinning guitar dynamics from Austin Spence (also on the audible bass/vocals) & Donnie Small; both dexterously shred their axes into a belting clobbering of wildly rushing stability, synergizing with ruthless pandemonium while trailblazing mayhem distributes a distorted malformation on piledriving thumpiness. While this surging uproar ruthlessly contorts a guttural grovelling on raspy throatiness, savage roars and growling grumblings that yell with shouting barks for good measure. This track has a minute long closure of silence however, which is very pointless... other than that. "High Clearance Code Access" brings back the maniacal lunacy full force with more rampantly rompy oddities, rollicking a healthy dose on sinister rhythms & rambunctiously stompy finesse from hammering drummer Luke Boutiette, a battering rampage onslaughts souls with trampling effect. As "It Began With Lizards" grapples with pugnacious anarchy, as steamrolling persistence brims a hefty grandeur in concretely gritty dynamics that unearths this other-worldly spectrum on salubrious blitzkrieg in which will make one want to break chairs over other chairs in no time.

"Manipulation Of The Senses" treads on bones into a speedy tremor of tenoring quakes that meltdowns with seething bombast, desecrating bodies into a bombing groove all the while slaying with killer laceration mobility that chugs and frolicks into a galloping swirl of maddening magnitude. While "Murder Of The Ancients" briskfully dominates with this archaic archetype on methodical but clamourous weave, wondering with prodigious yet uproarious furore and impending doom. It's all in a disorderly flow, but dirty and inventively slick. Overarching with prestigious yet skillful proficiency that makes this subgenre proud, while the penultimate rager "Never Ending Human Suffering" starts off with this cinematic intro, similar to what DEVIN TOWNSEND or DETHKLOK meticulously provide... until more frantic but vigorous rigour manifests with more abominable chugs and galloping frolics that pursuit with striking machinations.

Overall concluding "Heresy Of The Highest Order" with the epic banger "The Lucid Dreamer"; I am compelled to say that EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT certainly exceeded all original expectations here, there's me thinking that this would be a simple writing yet the cryptic instrumentation & songwriting musicianship most surely outdone themselves with not so linear transgression. However, it's an enjoyably entertaining discovery and experience should you fancy a blinding spin that's very much replayable too should you be a fan of this subgenre at large. Surely worthy of giving a listen a couple of times, do check it out.
