EMBREACH recently released their debut album "Hues Of Red". This band from Finland published three EPs: "End Of The Line" (2004), "Her Grace" (2006) and "Deafening Silence" (2008). The band's music shares elements of modern melodic Death Metal, at least they are trying to but without too much success I might imply. There are uneven riffs with detached singing rather frequently. Furthermore, the band's Death Metal seems to be mixed with Progressive Metal issuing also depressive ballads. I suppose their influences are: MASTADON, TRIVIUM, PAIN OF SALVATION, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH.
On "Beneath The Waves" EMBREACH tried to mix Folk & Viking Metal of TYR and KORPIKLAANI with intense growl singing. The tempos and paces change from faster to slower in a rather extensive rate. The impression is that two songs overlap on each other. Band uses a variety of techniques, vocalist try to singing, shout and also growl. In "On That Day" Guys put different layers, you will also find a few elements of Hardcore. Too many connections of different kinds of music can to heard on "We Must Not Wait". EMBREACH delivers Death Metal with Progressive ends and acoustic features, but with all that diversity it seems that they don't really know to where they are heading with their material thus sounding amateurish on several moments. "...And Then Silence" plainly shows lack of experience, everything is shallow. Sometimes you just cannot stand this album for too long, like a feeling of having enough of it.
"Hues Of Red" didn't appeal to me and I think it is not worth listening too much as thereis nothing special about it. Don't get me wrong, it is listenable but a rather waste of your time, almost 45 minutes of boredom.I hope that in the future this band would present better material.
